BYE, BYE, BYE CORNELL...

Can somebody please tell the benders that make up Cornell's hockey team that you can't change the scoreboard by cheapshotting punches and ripping off shoulder pads and tearing off your opponent's jerseys? Like c'mon, your getting your heads kicked in, grow a pair and just lose with dignity. Not only that, the game was televised on Time Warner Cable last night - great job Red....you just showed the whole Capital Region what a bunch of losers you are.

Well usually these posts are just simple game recaps but I'm gonna go ahead and just give you my two cents on last night. One phrase can describe last night's student section: Gahhd damn man, did we come to play or what?? Right from the start I just knew we had a certain vibe to us. The white rally towels made me feel like I was at a Philadelphia Phillies playoff game, it was unreal. Waving that garnet Dutchmen flag and running from one end of the rink to the other right above Cornell's pep band definitely brought us to another level.

Apologies to the Concordy for taking all your newspapers out of Reamer and using them for our introduction. Old Man Clemens from Cornell was pretty pissed when we stole all their newspapers so they couldn't copy us. He tried coming over to confront us but had nothing else to say other than, "WOW, real classy guys, and thats why you go to Union!" Well Old Man Clemens, I got news for you ...you're right, we do go to Union! THIS isn't Lynah, THIS isn't Ithaca, THIS isn't Cornell. When you're in OUR house, when you're in OUR town, and when you're at OUR school, you play by OUR rules!

Serious props to the Nott Noisemakers. They did some serious damage. For a group that just came together less than a month ago, they have definitely shown signs of improvement. Drummerboy was shreddin as usual, the cowbell girl was providing an extra beat to go along with our chants, and that trombonist was blowing all of his notes like a champ. It was just awesome! AND YES, they even busted out "F*** YOU" by Cee Lo Green. Awesome, definitely a fan favorite by far and so appropriate for the events that had been taking place. I think Cornell's pep band may have taken a few notes from you guys.

Now, for the action on the ice. Complete domination by our guys. The Dutchmen outshot Cornell 36-9 for the night, the fewest shots Union has allowed in a game in the Division I era, breaking the previous record of 12 shots allowed set on Dec. 30, 2005 against Canisius, also at Messa Rink.

Union jumped out to an early lead on their first power play of the night, with Cornell’s Dan Nicholls in the penalty box for roughing. Sophomore forward Jeremy Welsh fed Carr in the slot, who fired a wrist shot past Cornell goaltender Mike Garman (32 saves) for an early lead at 2:50 of the first period. The Dutchmen would tack on another goal minutes later, as Hatch struck for his first score of the night. Senior forward Adam Presizniuk fired a shot from the circle that trickled underneath Garman. Hatch skated in and poked the puck across the goal line at 5:52 for a 2-0 Union lead.

The Dutchmen maintained a 2-0 lead heading into the third period, when Sullivan struck at 1:36, crashing the net on a rebound in the slot for his third goal of the season, and fourth point (two goals, two assists) in two games against Cornell this season.

Hatch added an empty net goal at 14:11 for his second two-goal game of the season. The #9 Union Dutchmen would go onto win 4-0 over Cornell.

I find it ironic...Cornell prize themselves on their idiotic karioke talents to N'SYNC..Their song BYE,BYE, BYE which Cornell brutally massacred was off the album 'No Strings Attached'. Safe to say last night Union dangled their whole team like experienced puppeteers. The win, coupled with Yale’s 3-2 loss at St. Lawrence vaults Union into first place in the conference with 27 points, and gives the Dutchmen an opportunity to clinch a first round by in the ECAC Playoffs tomorrow night vs. Colgate. O yeah and by the way, #8 RPI lost at home to Colgate, who entered the game 4-22-2 overall and serving as the worst team in the ECAC, in overtime.

Lets keep it rolling tonight. I unfortunately will not be present tonight as I will be running train at the blackjack table at Turningstone. With that said, however, there is no reason why we shouldn't hold back. After coming off a huge win at RPI, Colgate will have loads of momentum and feeling like they are untouchable. We can't let this happen. Have fun tonight...and remember...
