Top-seeded Union will face Cornell in an ECAC Hockey tournament semifinal game at 4 p.m. Friday at the Herb Brooks Arena in Lake Placid.
The fourth-seeded Big Red advanced after picking up a 1-0 overtime win over fifth-seeded Clarkson in the deciding third game of their ECACH quarterfinal series Sunday at Lynah Rink. Brian Ferlin collected the game-winner at 12:42 of overtime.
The Dutchmen (26-6-4) swept their regular season series with the Big Red, posting a 3-0 win at Messa Rink on Nov. 9 and a 4-1 victory at Lynah on Feb. 14.
Union, which moved on after sweeping its quarterfinal series with 10th-seeded Dartmouth, owns the country's longest-active unbeaten streak at 11 games.
"They're a really good team," Cornell assistant coach Topher Scott told WHCU-AM. "We know we have our work cut out. I think we [need to] stick to the process of what we've been doing all year -- getting pucks deep, hitting their defense and bringing pucks to the net."
The Big Red (17-9-5) like their chances.
"We feel good about the group we have in our locker room," Scott said. "We feel like we can win an ECAC championship and a national championship. We're looking forward to being able to prove that and it starts with Union."
Second-seeded Colgate (19-12-5) and third-seeded Quinnipiac (24-8-6) meet in the other semifinal game, set for 7:30 p.m. Friday. The two semifinal winners meet in the championship game at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
There is no third-place game this season.
