by Ryan Fay

Former Union goaltender Troy Grosenick is expected to make his NHL debut today when the San Jose Sharks hit the road to take on the Carolina Hurricanes.

Gametime is 5 p.m.

Grosenick
Grosenick was recalled from the American Hockey League's Worcester Sharks on Wednesday after San Jose placed goalie Alex Stalock on injured reserve.

At the time of his recall, Grosenick was 7-2-1 with a 2.73 goals-against average and a .908 save percentage in 10 games. He was leading the AHL in wins and ranked second in minutes played (616).

In 35 games with Worcester last season, he went 18-14 with a 2.62 GAA and a .903 save percentage.

The 25-year-old will be the eighth former Union player to appear in an NHL game, joining goalie Steve Baker, forward Mario Gaiallonardo, defenseman Duane Joyce, forward Jeremy Welsh, goalie Keith Kinkaid, forward Josh Jooris, and defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere.

Grosenick played for Union from 2010-2013. He finished his collegiate career with a 39-16-9 record, a 1.89 GAA and a .930 save percentage. He remains the program's career leader in GAA and save percentage. The Brookfield, Wisconsin native gave up his senior season when he signed with San Jose in April 2013.
