Union College and North Dakota have never played each other before.
But that will eventually change, according to a report Thursday from the Grand Forks Herald.
The paper reported that the Dutchmen will host North Dakota for a single game on Dec. 31, 2016. In addition to being the first-ever contest between the two teams, it will also be the first time Union has a home game on New Year's Eve.
Union will return the favor by playing two contests at North Dakota in 2017-18, the paper added.
North Dakota has traditionally been one of the powerhouse programs in college hockey with 30 NCAA tournament appearances, 21 Frozen Four berths and seven national championships.
