"Max is from New Jersey and is in his second season at The Hill. He is the team's 2nd leading scorer with 50 points in 24 games and was Hill's leading scorer last season with 47 points in 29 games. It look like he played youth/HS hockey in NJ prior to going prep. Don't see where he was invited to any USA national festivals, etc. The Hill is what I would call a second teir Prep team and mostly doesn't play the top NE Prep teams. According to USHR, Max is very fast, 'has a second gear' and is a good playmaker & finisher (currently has 25 goals in 24 games). Is projected to do a year of juniors next season and matriculate in '11, though USHR says there is 'a slight chance' may come next season."
Also, there has been a rumor on the USCHO.com forum that Stephane Boileau might not return next season and head to med school. I haven't heard about this, so I don't know what to think about it. The thing I'm wondering about is that since Stephane is a junior wouldn't he have to finish his senior year before heading to med school? Please comment if you have any more information on this.
Regarding Boileau, if he has been taking a big enough course load and/or summer classes he could definitely be going to med school next year. It all comes down to how many credits he has. Union used to have a 5-year medical school program where students did 2 years undergrad at Union and then went directly to Albany Medical School. It meant taking a very heavy course load during the trimesters as well as summer courses, so Stephane's situation does not seem without precedent.
ReplyDeleteVery possible scenario. The only med program that I know of here is the Leaders In Medicine Program where students do 4 years of undergrad and then 3 years at Albany Med. Also, I don't think many students take more than 3 courses a term unless they are an engineering major where they have to take 4 courses in one term each year. I doubt many students take 4 courses each term. But, Stephane is always an ECAC all-Academic selection and I think he has been on Dean's List consistently. Either way I hope he stays around for his senior season because he brings a lot of energy to the ice.
