The Garnet and White game is tonight and the season opener against Sacred Heart is just around the corner! People all over campus have been asking me what the starting lineup will be on the first night, but I have nothing concrete to tell them mainly because lines change all the time, and I have no idea how good some of the freshmen are. We should get a better look at them tonight.
Even though I have no idea what Coach Leaman is thinking or what has been going on in practice, here is what I think the starting lineup should be (and maybe could be):
Presizniuk - Welsh - Boileau
Cain - Zajac - W. Simpson
Jooris - J. Simpson - Hatch
Carr - Buote - K. Bodie
Coburn - Forgaard
Matheson - M. Bodie
Stuart - Julseth-White
Kinkaid
Milan
Grosenick
One thing everyone has to remember is that Union has a VERY deep team, and pretty much everyone on the roster will play a decent amount of games. You will probably see a lot of Yanovitch, Ikkala, and Ingoldsby.
I expect all four lines to score a significant amount of goals, which is why I think the Union offense will be fine this season. The one problem for the offense will be who is the star or "go to guy." It's going to be almost impossible to replace Mario Valery-Trabucco and Jason Walters, but I do feel that Prez and Welsh can step up to take their place. In order to be successful Union needs these two guys to have good years, and I am confident that they will. Don't be surprised to see both of these guys on All-ECAC teams at the end of the season.
After watching tonight G & W game it looks to me this is where it may be?

This team could have 4 strong lines
what about sullivan?
ReplyDeleteNo matter what the combination is, I agree with the first comment that U will have 4 strong lines all with scoring potential. I like the line-up you have there by the way. But, I like Welsh on the top line since I think he's going to have a HUGE year. Personally, I like my first line to have my 3 best forwards.
ReplyDeleteSullivan sounds good too, I just don't know much about him. Maybe it's the fact that he's the youngest skater in the Class of 2014 that made me not mention him. I probably know the least about him among the freshmen.
