Union hockey teams sweep the night

Friday night was a good one for the Union hockey teams.

The 16th ranked men's team (4-2-3 ECAC, 10-6-4 overall) went on the road and clipped Princeton, 3-2. The women's team (0-7-3, 6-11-3) shutout Penn State, 1-0.

Both teams will look to keep the good times rolling on Saturday. The Dutchmen are at #5/5 Quinnipiac (10-0-1, 16-3-3) for a 7:00 P.M faceoff. Quinnipiac suffered its first non-win in league play earlier tonight when they skated to a 1-1 tie with RPI. The Dutchwomen host Penn State (1-8-1 CHA, 7-13-1) again at 4:00 P.M.

TAKEAWAYS.... Wayne Simpson's first period assist gave him 99 career points, putting him one away from becoming the ninth Union player to reach 100 points in the Division I era ... The Dutchmen power play continues to struggle, as it went 1-for-7 on the night and is just 1-for-18 over the past three games... Dutchwomen goaltender Shenae Lundberg had her first collegiate shutout .... the win gave the women's team six on the season, their most for a season since 2002-2003 (11 wins).
