Dan Fridgen, a former assistant coach at Union and a former head coach at RPI, offers some thoughts on this weekend's ECAC quarterfinal series between Union and Dartmouth. Currently an analyst for Time Warner Cable Sports, Fridgen has worked games featuring both teams this season.
Fridgen's scouting report on Union:
"Good forwards. Solid defense. Goaltender Troy Grosenick is key as he has to have a good series. That being said, forward Wayne Simpson is also key for Union. Their best line to date has been Matt Hatch, Kevin Sullivan, and Max Novak. Union has an excellent power play and a decent penalty kill. They will need to capitalize on opportunities created on transition or off the rush."

Fridgen's scouting report on Dartmouth:
"They have struggled as of late between the pipes. They have a lot of fire power up front when they are connecting - captain Eric Robinson and forward Tyler Sikura are keys offensively."
Keys to the series for Union?
"Goaltending, special teams, and scoring early," Fridgen says.
