Former Union goaltender Troy Grosenick registered his first professional shutout Saturday, leading the American Hockey League's Worcester Sharks to a 3-0 win over the St. John's Ice Caps.

Grosenick stopped all 27 St. John's shots in the winning effort. He was named the game's first star.

"He was really, really good," Worcester head coach Roy Sommer told the Worcester Telegram. "They didn't have a ton of shots on him, and our guys were good at forcing them to shoot from the perimeter, but when he had to make big saves, he did."

In three games this season, Grosenick is 2-0 with a 1.33 goals against average and a .955 save percentage.

Grosenick, who backstopped Union to ECAC tournament championships in 2012 and 2013, gave up his senior season with the Dutchmen when he signed with the San Jose Sharks organization in April.
