Gostisbehere |
ECAC Hockey announced late Wednesday that Union junior defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere is a finalist for the league's Best Defensive Defenseman honor.
Gostisbehere has been one of the backbone's of Union's stingy defense, which finished the regular season allowing an ECACH-low 1.91 goals per game in conference play.
The 2012 Philadelphia Flyers third-rounder logs significant minutes, often against the opposition's top line. He led conference defensemen with a plus-18 rating in league play.
Should he win, Gostisbehere would be the first Union defenseman to capture the honor since Brock Matheson in 2010-2011.
The other finalists are Quinnipiac's Dan Federico and Brown's Dennis Robertson.
