Recruits to be teammates a year early

by Ryan Fay

Recruits Cole Maier and Brendan Taylor won't need to be introduced to each other when they join Union for the 2015-2016 season.

That's because the two forwards will also be teammates next season with the British Columbia Hockey League's Nanaimo Clippers.

Maier recently committed to play for the Clippers next season, while Taylor has played for the club since 2011.

The 18-year-old Maier spent this year at Taft School, where he served as team captain and registered 11 goals and 18 assists in 24 games.

Taylor, 19, led the Clippers in scoring this season with 23 goals and 32 assists in 56 games. He was one of the team's three alternate captains.
