Two Union players honored by CHN

by Ryan Fay

A pair of players from top-ranked Union were honored by College Hockey News on Thursday.

Junior defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere was named to the All-CHN First Team, while senior forward Daniel Carr was selected to the All-CHN Second Team.

Gostisbehere, who was a top-10 finalist for the Hobey Baker Award, has eight goals and 21 assists in 40 games. He's the reigning co-ECAC Hockey Player of the Year and co-Best Defensive Defenseman.

Carr leads the team in scoring with 22 goals and 26 assists in 37 games. His 48 points are a single-season program record and rank eighth nationally.

Earlier this week, CHN honored Union head coach Rick Bennett as Coach of the Year. Bennett has guided the Dutchmen to a school-record 30 wins, their second ECACH regular season title, their third straight ECACH tournament crown and their second Frozen Four berth in the last three seasons.
