Carr scores game-winner in pro debut

by Ryan Fay

Daniel Carr's professional debut couldn't have gone much better.

The former Union forward scored the game-winning goal at 17:33 of the third period to lift the American Hockey League's Hamilton Bulldogs to a 6-4 road win over the Rochester Americans on Saturday.

With the game even at 4-4, Carr was at the side of the goalmouth when he tipped Charles Hudon's shot past Americans goalie Nathan Lieuwen. The Bulldogs tacked on an empty-netter in the closing seconds to ice the win.

The goal was Carr's second point of the night. He added an assist on the Bulldogs' third goal that nodded the score at 3-3 at 17:04 of the second.

Carr, who finished the game with a plus-1 rating, was named the game's first star.
