NCAA Hockey Bracket Challenge For Charity

My fraternity, Alpha Epsilon Pi (Upsilon Sigma chapter), is hosting an NCAA Hockey Bracket Challenge to raise money for the "Score for Kristen & the Kids" fund. This charity is in support of Kristen Shinebarger, who was recently diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma, and her family. Her mother, Shelly Shinebarger, is the Director of Student Services at Union and does a lot for Dutchmen, especially with the guys from Canada. As of February 7th, about $4,000 has been raised. Let's continue this success and spread it the cause throughout the college hockey community.

For more info on the charity click here.

The way the bracket challenge works is that it costs $5 to submit one bracket (or $12 for three brackets, $20 for five brackets), and the winner takes 50% of the total amount raised, while the other half goes to the Shinebarger family.

  2. I followed these directions and it was fine. Hope it helps.

    Rules for the contest:
    1. To submit a bracket, register at www.bracketmaker.com (email addresses will ONLY be used for login purposes). Brackets can be filled out at http://www.bracketmaker.com/predict.cfm?parent=735249 until 3:00 PM, Friday March 25, the start of the tournament. Please use the SAME EMAIL ADDRESSS for bracketmaker and PayPal, so that we can confirm that the submitted bracket matches up with a donation.
    2. For a bracket to qualify, all selections must be made, along with a tie-breaking procedure score for ALL THREE GAMES in the Frozen Four. If predicted scores are not included, the contestant will lose the tiebreaker to any valid score.
    3. $5 must be submitted via PayPal to accompany the bracket BEFORE the previously mentioned deadline.

    4. Contestants can submit up to 5 brackets, at 1 for $5, 3 for $12, and 5 for $20. We will also accept non-bracket donations, 100% of which will be given to the cause.
    5. Correct predictions will double in point value, starting with 1 point for round 1, leading to a potential total of 32 points.
    6. If two or more contestants have the same points at the end of the tournament, tie-breaking procedures are as follows:
-The contestant whose answer to the Tiebreaker Question is closest to the actual total final score of the Championship Game
-In the event that the tie is still not broken, to the contestant (among those still tied) whose answer to the Tiebreaker Question is closest to the actual score of the winning team in the Championship Game
-In the event that the tie is still not broken, to the contestant (among those still tied) whose answer to the Tiebreaker Question is closest to the actual score of the losing team in the Championship Game
-In the event that the tie is still not broken, to the contestant whose answer to the Tiebreaker Question for the two semi-finals games based on the rules of the first three tiebreaking procedures.
-If none of the tiebreakers determine a winner, the top contestants will split the prize.
