It wasn't the best of weekends for the Union Dutchwomen, who return from a trip to central New York without a victory.
FRIDAY VS CORNELL
Babiak (Union Athletics) |
Cornell's Brianne Jenner scored four goals, including two in a crushing five-goal second period for Cornell. Union didn't get a goal until it was far too late. Down 8-0, Rebecca Babiak put Union on the board with a power play goal at 18:15 of the third period. It was Babiak's second of the year with assists going to Courtney Turner and Christine Valente.
Union didn't generate its first shot of the game until the second period and ended up getting outshot, 46-6.
SATURDAY VS COLGATE
The Dutchwomen (7-18-3, 0-13-3) turned in a much more competitive effort against Colgate, but still dropped a 3-1 decision. The loss was Union's seventh in a row, the longest drought of their season.
By the the time Union got on the board, the game was all but over. Turner contributed an unassisted goal with 51 seconds left in the game, but by that juncture, Colgate (3-10-3, 8-16-3) had a 3-0 lead. The Raiders scored one goal in each of the three periods.
On the positive side, Union generated 33 shots on goal. It marked their highest single game total since putting 36 shots on Penn State in a 2-1 win on January 12th.
