Former Union defenseman Alex Todd has been named an assistant coach at Nebraska-Omaha.
Todd replaces the recently-departed Steve Johnson and will reportedly coach the defensemen.
“I’ve gotten to know [Todd] the last couple of years,” Nebraka-Omaha head coach Dean Blais told the Omaha World-Herald. “When guys have left, he’s shown interest and we’ve kept in touch. We’re pretty lucky to get a guy like him."

Todd, who played at Union from 1997-2001, spent the last eight years as the head coach at Division III Castleton, where he complied a 114-78-21 record, including a program high 22 wins during the 2010-2011 season. He was named the ECAC East Coach of the Year following that season.
