Vecchione returns to practice

Freshman center Mike Vecchione, who has missed Union's last four games with a full-body injury, returned to practice on Tuesday.

"Today is his first official practice, so we're going to have to wait and see how he feels," said head coach Rick Bennett. "By no means is he going to be ready for a full workload, but guys have surprised us. It's going to be a practice-by-practice basis."

Bennett said Vecchione could return this weekend, when Union hosts Harvard on Friday before taking on Rensselaer in Saturday's non-league Mayor's Cup at the Times Union Center.

"We'll see if we're going to play him on Friday, but probably more like a Saturday night [situation]," Bennett said.

Vecchione has five goals and eight assists in 18 games this season. He has been Union's top faceoff weapon at just under 55 percent.
