The career of Union women's hockey goalie Madeleine Dahl has come to a premature end.
The sophomore has been forced to hang up the skates due to a career-ending injury.
"Maddie Dahl worked hard for our team and brought a great deal of athleticism to the net," said head coach Claudia Barcomb. "She added a significant amount of depth to the goaltender position. Unfortunately, Maddie had a career-ending injury and will no longer be able to play for our team."

She finished the season with an 0-1-1 record, a 2.91 GAA and a .929 save percentage.
As a freshman, Dahl went 0-0-1 in five games (one start) with a 2.54 GAA and a .925 save percentage.

Dahl was likely ticketed to another season as the primary backup to senior-to-be Shenae Lundberg, but she could have been in the mix for the starting gig in 2015-2016.
Dahl is the second goalie the Dutchwomen have lost since their season ended in February. Emma Pincott, a well-regarded freshman, opted not to return for her sophomore season. She didn't receive any playing time during the regular season.
Their departures leave Lundberg as the program's only returning netminder.
Union recently picked up a commitment for next season from Alexx Ridding, a goaltender for the Provincial Women's Hockey League's Barrie Junior Sharks. It's likely an additional goalie will be brought in for next season.
