Former Union goaltender Keith Kinkaid is staying with the New Jersey Devils.

Kinkaid, who was a restricted free agent, signed a one-year, two-way deal with the Devils, multiple reports indicated Thursday. He will be paid $600,000 in the National Hockey League and $105,000 in the American Hockey League.

With Martin Brodeur unlikely to return to the Devils, Kinkaid could open next season as the backup goaltender behind Cory Schneider. But he might have to fend off veteran Scott Clemmensen, who signed a one-year, two-way deal with the Devils on Tuesday.

Kinkaid, who turns 25 Friday, appeared in 43 regular season games for the Albany (AHL) Devils last season. He went 24-13-5 with a 2.29 goals-against average, a .912 save percentage and four shutouts. His GAA ranked third in the AHL.

In four AHL playoff games, Kinkaid was 1-3 with a 2.26 GAA and .932 save percentage.
