In the newly-created position, Christiansen will manage the USHL's player recruitment efforts with communications aimed at players, parents, and family advisors. He will also be responsible for developing a strategy for expanding the league's player development events, such as the USHL Player Combines.
“We’re excited about growing our efforts to tell a more complete story about the benefits of playing in the USHL to a number of constituent audiences,” said USHL President and Commissioner Bob Fallen. “His experience as a player in our league, as a college student-athlete, and ultimately as a professional hockey player and coach give him a unique perspective on the developmental opportunities for young, elite players.”
Christiansen was a forward and defenseman for Union from 1998-2002. The 36-year-old spent the past seven seasons as the head coach and Director of Hockey Operations for three teams in the Elite Ice Hockey League, the top professional league in the United Kingdom. He recently returned to the United States and assisted the Boston Bruins with their summer development camp.
