Dutchmen recruit Supinski gets a hat trick (updated w/ video)

by Ryan Fay

Coquitlam Express head coach Barry Wolff recently told Tri-Cities Now that “[Brett Supinski] is going to be good for us. He’s got offensive flare for sure.”

Wolff wasn't kidding.
Supinski

Supinski, who is committed to Union for next season, recorded his first hat trick in the British Columbia Hockey League on Sunday. The 19-year-old forward scored three goals to lift the Express to a 4-3 win over the Nanaimo Clippers, and he was named the game's first star. The feat came in just his seventh game in the league.

The former Millbrook School star put the Express on the board with a power-play tally at 17:31 of the opening period. With the Express trailing 3-2, Supinski struck again to tie the game at 17:51 of the third. He completed the hat trick when he potted the game-winner with 32 seconds left in the game.

The three goals brought his season total to six, tying him for tops among BCHL rookies so far this season. Supinski also has an assist this season, and his seven points are best among Express rookies.

Supinski's first goal for the Express happened only two shots and six and a half minutes into his debut with the team on Sept. 19. It's looking more and more like it was only the sign of things to come.
