Vecchione named ECACH Player of the Month

Union sophomore center Mike Vecchione was named ECAC Hockey Player of the Month for the month of October, the league announced Tuesday.

Vecchione was a key force in Union closing October with a 5-2 record and the No. 2 ranking in the country. During the month, he led the nation in scoring with five goals and seven assists. He had at least a point in each of Union's seven games, including four multi-point efforts. He also captured 62 percent of his faceoffs.

The Saugus, Massachusetts native was named ECACH Player of the Week on Oct. 7 and 14.

The other monthly winners were Colgate's Charlie Finn (Goaltender of the Month) and St. Lawrence freshman netminder Kyle Hayton (Rookie of the Month).
