Kathryn Davis scored her first goal of the season, but the Union women's hockey team settled for a 1-1 non-conference draw against Maine Saturday at Messa Rink.
After a scoreless first period, Davis' power-play goal at 4:59 of the second gave Union a 1-0 lead. The tally followed a series of a pinpoint passes. Jessica Kaminsky made a pass to Alex Tancrell-Fontaine at the top of the slot. Tancrell-Fontaine then slid the puck to Davis, who blasted it past Maine goalie Meghann Treacy from the right faceoff circle.
Maine (7-10-3) found the equalizer at 13:56. After Hailey Browne intercepted a pass from Union defenseman Caitlyn McLaren just inside the blueline, she raced in and beat Shenae Lundberg after catching the Dutchwomen goalie leaning the other way.
The best scoring chance the rest of the way came later in the second when a shot from Maine's Audra Richards hit the post before sailing wide.
Lundberg, who picked up the shutout in Friday's 2-0 win over Maine, stopped 21-of-22 shots. Treacy turned aside 20-of-21.
Maine finished 0-for-4 on the power-play, while Davis converted on Union's lone man advantage.
The Dutchwomen (4-11-3) resume action on Jan. 2 with a home date against ECAC Hockey rival Quinnipiac.
