Two Dutchmen earn league honors

Union forwards Daniel Ciampini and Ryan Scarfo earned ECAC Hockey monthly awards for the month of December on Tuesday.

Ciampini, a senior, was named Player of the Month. Scarfo, a freshman, was named Rookie of the Month.

Ciampini led all ECACH players in scoring in December with five goals and two assists in four games. He also paced the league in game-winning goals (3), shots on goal (17) and plus/minus rating (+7). The Concord, Ontario native was named the league's Player of the Week on Dec. 9.

Scarfo, who won two ECACH Rookie of the Week awards during the month, topped all league freshmen in scoring with two goals and three assists in four contests. The native of North Chelmsford, Massachusetts also led league freshmen in plus/minus rating (+5) and won 52% of his faceoffs during the month.

The Dutchmen return to action this weekend, traveling to Princeton on Friday and 15th-ranked Quinnipiac on Saturday.
