Ciampini named an All-American

Union senior winger Daniel Ciampini was named an East First Team All-American by the American Hockey Coaches Association on Friday.

"Truly humbled to receive such a prestigious accolade," Ciampini said in a tweet. "I view this as team accomplishment and would like to thank my teammates and coaches for their hard work and support this season"

Ciampini had 26 goals and 24 assists in 39 games this season, finishing tied with sophomore center Mike Vecchione for the team lead in scoring with 50 points.

Ciampini tied Union's single-season points record, and led the Dutchmen in shots (126), plus/minus rating (+21), power play goals (9) and game-winning goals (5).

The honor is the latest in a long line for Ciampini, who also earned All-ECAC Hockey First Team accolades and was one of 10 finalists for the Hobey Baker Award.

The Concord, Ontario native finished his Union career with 63 goals and 55 assists, good for fifth on the program's Division I era career points list. He signed with the American Hockey League's Worcester Sharks on March 18, and has three goals and three assists in 11 games.

Ciampini is the 13th Union player to earn All-American status, and ninth from the program's Division I era.
