That photo op with President Barack Obama for winning last year's NCAA men's hockey championship?
It's not going to happen.

Union's national title won't be honored with a trip to the White House, Rep. Paul Tonko's office announced Tuesday afternoon.
"I was extremely disappointed to hear from the White House -- in a departure from prior years -- that they had no plans to recognize the 2014 Frozen Four Champions," Tonko said in a statement. "Last year's Union Dutchmen put together an incredible season capped off with a storybook victory over Minnesota, and I believe the White House should be consistent in the recognition of our nation's student athletes."
There was no reason given as to why Union wasn't offered a trip to the White House.
It's a break from the norm, as championship teams from the college and pro ranks typically make a White House visit. Yale's men's hockey team was honored in a ceremony last March after winning the national title in 2013.
This is a shame....other adjectives that come to mind...despicable, atrocious, appalling, disgusting. But inconsistency is typical of current government leaders.
ReplyDeleteWrong kind of union. The right kind in my book, though, so big congratulations on the championship!!!
