St. Lawrence pulled away from Union in the second period en route to a 6-3 ECAC Hockey win Friday at Appleton Arena.
The loss extended Union's winless streak to five games, while 15th-ranked St. Lawrence stretched its unbeaten streak to four games.
After missing two contests with a lower-body injury, Mike Vecchione returned for Union and scored twice, including a power-play goal that nodded the game at 3-3 at 11:38 of the second.
But the Saints blew open what had been a back-and-forth affair with three goals over the next five minutes.
Joe Sullivan notched his first two goals of the season, at 12:18 and 15:16, to put the Saints up 5-3. Drew Smolcynski followed with a tally a minute later to grow the lead to 6-3. Union had no answer.
Jake Kupsky was charged with all six St. Lawrence goals. After Smolcynski's marker, he was pulled for Alex Sakellaropoulos, who stopped 13 shots the rest of the way.
Ryan Scarfo also scored for the Dutchmen (0-3-0 ECACH, 2-4-3 overall).
St. Lawrence (1-0-0, 6-2-1) outshot Union 43-26. The Dutchmen hadn't allowed that many shots to an opponent in a regulation game since Yale had 49 in a 2-0 Union win on Feb. 28, 2014.

The Dutchmen will look to rebound tonight when they travel to 17th-ranked Clarkson. The Golden Knights skated to a 2-2 tie with RPI on Friday.
