by Ryan Fay

Former Union defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere made history in the Philadelphia Flyers' 2-1 overtime loss to the New Jersey Devils on Saturday.

Gostisbehere extended his point streak to 11 games after tying the score at 1-1 with a power-play goal at 3:49 of the third period. That set a new NHL record for the longest point streak by a rookie defenseman.

Barry Beck had the old mark of 10, set twice with the Colorado Rockies in 1977-78.

Gostisbehere also set a new Flyers record for the longest point streak by a rookie. He broke Mikael Renberg's old record of 10, established in 1993-94.

Gostisbehere has three goals and 11 assists during his streak, and 10 goals and 20 assists in 36 contests this season.
