Kinkaid named AHL Player of the Week

by Ryan Fay

Former Union goaltender Keith Kinkaid was named the American Hockey League's Player of the Week on Monday.

Kinkaid won all three of his starts last week for the Albany Devils, stopping 79 of the 82 shots he faced.

He turned aside 25-of-27 shots in Albany's 5-2 win over Bridgeport last Monday before stopping all 25 shots to earn his first shutout of the season in the Devils' 3-0 win at Hartford on Friday.

Kinkaid upped his shutout streak to 140:08 in Saturday's 2-1 shootout triumph at Syracuse before allowing a second period goal. He finished the game with 29 saves and didn't permit Syracuse to score on any of their five shootout attempts.

Kinkaid ranks second in the AHL with a 1.97 goals-against average. He holds a 6-1-1 record and a .922 save percentage in eight contests.

The Farmingville, New York native signed with the New Jersey Devils organization in April 2011 following two seasons at Union.
