Dutchmen add Maier for 2015-2016

by Ryan Fay

Union picked up a commitment from Taft Prep senior forward Cole Maier for the 2015-2016 season, Chris Heisenberg reported late Friday.

Maier
"Rangy forward is progressing nicely at Taft," the U.S Hockey Report wrote earlier this year. "The former New York Saints product has improved his skating a great deal and has always had a knack around the net. Showed excellent poise in the offensive zone over the weekend. Is someone we think will have a breakout season this upcoming year. A D-I prospect."

The 6-foot-1, 185-pounder was Taft's second-leading scorer last season with 11 goals and 11 assists in 23 games. Current season stats were not immediately available.

The 18-year-old native of Pequannock, New Jersey is a co-captain at Taft this season. He's a member of the National Math Honor Society, and takes part in Model UN.

Maier joins forward Brett Supinski (Millbrook Prep), forward Mark Dufour (Islanders, USPHL), and goaltender Joe Young (Philadelphia, USPHL) as known recruits for 2015-2016.
