Sakellaropoulos in net for game one at St. Cloud State

by Ryan Fay

Freshman Alex Sakellaropoulos will be between the pipes as 10th-ranked Union battles top-ranked St. Cloud State tonight at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center.

Gametime is 8:37 p.m. ET.

It will be Sakellaropoulos' first start since a 2-2 tie at UConn on October 25. He's 2-2-2 with a 3.14 goals against average and an .860 save percentage in seven games this season. Union is 1-2-1 when Sakellaropoulos starts.

He most recently played on December 1, when he relieved an ineffective Colin Stevens during a 5-4 win at Penn State. Sakellaropoulos stopped all 11 shots he faced.

Stevens, who is healthy, will be the back-up. The Niskayuna native made a career-high 37 saves in Wednesday's 3-2 win against Dartmouth at Messa Rink. Stevens, the reigning ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the Week, had started Union's last 11 games. He went 9-1-0 during the stretch.

There are two other changes in tonight's lineup. Mark Bennett takes the place of David Roy as the center on the line with Matt Hatch and Sam Coatta. Noah Henry replaces Matt Krug as Sebastien Gingras' defensive partner.

Bennett will see his first action since November 30 at Penn State. Henry most recently played last Saturday vs Quinnipiac.
