Vecchione finalist for Rookie of the Year

ECAC Hockey announced Saturday that Union freshman center Mike Vecchione is a finalist for the league's Rookie of the Year award.

Vecchione has registered eight multi-point games in his rookie season and finished fourth among conference rookies with 17 points (6 g, 11 a) in 20 regular season league games. He leads third-ranked Union in faceoff wins (250) and faceoff winning percentage (.519).

The other finalists are Quinnipiac forward Sam Anas, St. Lawrence defenseman Gavin Bayreuther and Colgate goaltender Charlie Finn

No Union player has ever won the ECACH Rookie of the Year Award.
