Incoming Union hockey forward Kevin Shier scored two goals to lift the Toronto Lakeshore Patriots to a 4-1 win over Fort Frances in the opening game of the Dudley Hewitt Cup tournament on Tuesday in Wellington, Ontario.
Shier, who was named Player of the Game, opened the scoring at 18:32 of the first period. His second tally gave the Patriots a 3-1 lead at 14:15 of the third.
The Patriots resume tournament play on Wednesday, when they take on Kirkland Lake at 2:30 p.m.
