Shier leads Toronto to tourney finals

Incoming Union hockey forward Kevin Shier scored three points to propel Toronto Lakeshore to a 6-0 win over Fort Frances in the Dudley Hewitt Cup semifinals on Friday in Wellington, Ontario.

The victory sends Toronto Lakeshore to the tournament final against Wellington at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. The winner advances to the Royal Bank Cup, which decides the champion of Canadian Junior "A" hockey.

Shier assisted on two goals by Niko Kovachis in the opening period and potted one of his own at 12:38 of the second.

Overall, the 20-year-old has three goals and three assists in four tournament games.
