Bodie, Ikkala earn honors

Senior defenseman Mat Bodie and senior forward Cole Ikkala were selected to the Capital One Academic All-District I Men's At-Large Team for NCAA Division I by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Friday.

The honor recognizes the country's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.

Both players will be on the ballot for Capital One Academic All-America Team voting. Winners are expected to be announced the first week of June.

Bodie, who captained the Dutchmen to their first NCAA championship this season, was the highest scoring defenseman in the country with eight goals and 31 assists. He is the Dutchmen's all-time leading scorer among defenseman with 124 points. Bodie, an economics major, possesses a 3.35 cumulative GPA after registering a perfect 4.00 last semester.

Ikkala was named a Senior CLASS Award Second Team All-American and received the Charles N. Morrison Scholarship Award at the team's awards banquet. He served as an alternate captain and scored two goals this season. A managerial economics major, Ikkala owns a cumulative GPA of 3.82 and has posted straight-A's the last two semesters.
