Wade Novak selected in NAHL draft

by Ryan Fay

Union men's hockey recruit Wade Novak was drafted by the Minnesota Wilderness in the seventh round of the North American Hockey League draft on Tuesday.

It marked the second time in as many months that the 17-year-old was drafted by a junior hockey team. The Bloomington Thunder selected him in the 15th round of the U.S Hockey League draft in May.

Novak, who is expected to join Union for the 2016-2017 season, spent this past year with the New Jersey Colonials U-16 team. He led the team in goals (15) and points (25).

As for where he'll play next season, Novak said if he doesn't crack the USHL, then he'll play in the NAHL.

He is the younger brother of Dutchmen junior forward Max Novak.
