Vasaturo named Dutchmen captain

Senior defenseman Charlie Vasaturo has been named captain of the Union men's hockey team for the 2014-2015 season.

Senior forwards Daniel Ciampini and Sam Coatta were tabbed as the alternate captains.

Vasaturo had five assists and a team-high 62 blocked shots in a career-high 42 games last season. He received the Unsung Hero Award at the team's annual postseason banquet.

Ciampini is Union's top returning scorer after recording 23 goals and 18 assists in 41 contests a season ago.

Coatta appeared in 40 games last season, establishing career high's in goals (five), assists (six) and points (11).

Vasaturo's selection marks the seventh consecutive season that a defenseman will captain the Dutchmen. Mat Bodie served as captain for the past two seasons (2012-14) and was preceded by Nolan Julseth-White (2011-12), Brock Matheson (2010-11), Mike Wakita (2009-10) and co-captain Lane Caffaro (2008-09).
