Ciampini and Scarfo earn league honors

Union forwards Daniel Ciampini and Ryan Scarfo were honored by ECAC Hockey on Tuesday. The conference named Ciampini Player of the Week while Scarfo was selected as Rookie of the Week.

Ciampini registered the game-winning goal in both games during Union's road sweep of Brown and Yale last weekend. The senior finished the weekend with three goals and an assist and leads the 20th-ranked Dutchmen with nine goals this season. He ranks second in scoring among ECACH players with nine goals and 11 assists.

Scarfo had an assist in both games last weekend, including one on Ciampini's game-winner against Yale on Saturday, to help the Dutchmen extend their winning streak in conference play to three games. The freshman added seven faceoff wins last weekend and finished with a combined plus-2 rating. He has two goals and three assists in 16 games this season.

The Dutchmen resume action Dec. 27-28 when they travel to Bridgeport, Conn. for the inaugural Frozen Holiday Classic.
