Jooris nets hat trick vs Coyotes (with goal videos)

by Ryan Fay

Former Union forward Josh Jooris made history Tuesday, scoring three goals -- including the game-winner -- to become the first former Union player to record a hat trick in the National Hockey League.

Jooris celebrates his hat trick following Tuesday's win.
The Calgary Flames rookie accomplished the feat during the team's 5-2 home win against the Arizona Coyotes.

"I go out there and try to play my game," Jooris told reporters after the game. "If goals come like that, they come. Things worked out tonight, and I was able to find some fortunate bounces. It just feels great."

His first goal, at 18:46 of the first period, gave the Flames a 2-1 lead. Jooris provided the eventual game-winner at 7:13 of the second when he snapped a 2-2 tie with his second tally of the game. He sealed the hat trick with an empty-net, power-play goal at 19:14 of the third.

Jooris picked up the hat trick despite only firing three shots on goal during the game. Aside from the three goals, he saw 14:45 of ice time and won 71% of his faceoffs.

Including Tuesday's effort, Jooris has eight goals and four assists in 18 games with the Flames.
