Vecchione, a sophomore, is tied for third in the country in scoring with nine goals and 17 assists in 19 games. He leads the country in games with at least two points (10), power-play assists (10) and power-play points (14). His 268 faceoff wins are third-most in the country, and his .613 faceoff winning percentage is fourth-best among players who have taken at least 100 draws this season.

The fans' vote accounts for one percent of the total ballot in each phase in selecting this year's award recipient. The first phase of fan balloting runs now through March 8. Phase two will begin on March 19, when the top 10 candidates are announced.

The three Hobey Hat Trick finalists will be unveiled on April 2. The award will be presented at the Frozen Four on April 10 in Boston, Mass.
