Ben Pirko, a defenseman for the Selects Academy at South Kent School under-16 National team, announced his commitment to Union College on Wednesday.
He is expected to join the Dutchmen for the 2018-19 season, making him Union's first recruit for that year.

The 6-foot, 150-pounder from Arlington, Virginia had 13 assists in 27 games for Selects, which competes in the United States Premier Hockey League. According to the U.S Hockey Report, Pirko is a "good all-around defenseman" with a "good frame that is very far from being filled out."
Union has been active on the recruiting trail of late. Last week, the Dutchmen snagged a commitment from Youngstown Phantoms forward Justin Cmunt. He is slated to arrive for the 2017-18 season.
