The move gives the Southport, Connecticut native a chance to return to his home state as well as play for the reigning Division III national champions.

Martin, 21, skated in the British Columbia Hockey League this season. He tallied three goals and eight assists in 35 games with Trail Smoke before getting traded to Merritt for future considerations in January. He had 10 assists in 20 games the rest of the way.

Martin, a decorated prep player at Avon Old Farms, had no points in two games as a freshman at Union during the 2013-14 campaign. He departed following that season.
