Freshman goaltender Alexx Ridding and junior forward Rebecca Babiak won't be returning to the Union women's hockey team next season.

A team spokesperson said late Friday that "they both left the team for undisclosed reasons."

Ridding had a 4.26 goals-against average and an .862 save percentage in two relief appearances this season. Her departure leaves incoming recruits Leah Patrick and Melissa Black as the only goalies on next year's roster.

Ridding will spend next season with the Cambridge Rivulettes of the Provincial Women's Hockey League. It's a return to familiar territory for Ridding, who played for the PWHL's Barrie Junior Sharks prior to arriving at Union.

Babiak appeared in all 34 games for Union this season and recorded three goals and an assist. She finished her Dutchwomen career with six goals and six assists in 92 games. A team spokesperson said Babiak will remain enrolled at Union for her senior year.
