Former Union defenseman Mat Bodie is staying in the New York Rangers organization a little while longer.

The 25-year-old spent last season with the American Hockey League's Hartford Wolf Pack, the Rangers' top minor league affiliate. He had five goals and 27 assists in 75 games and was considered one of the team's best all-around defensemen.
Bodie originally joined the Rangers organization last summer when he signed a one-year deal as an undrafted free agent.
The East St. Paul, Manitoba native played for Union from 2010-14. He remains the highest scoring defenseman in program history with 28 goals and 96 assists in 154 career games.
