Former Union defenseman Will up for award

Former Union defenseman Andrew Will is among the 24 nominees for Best 2014-15 Coach, an online contest run by USA Today High School Sports.

Will has compiled a 143-29-17 record in seven seasons as the head coach of the Salisbury School boys hockey team, including a 23-4-2 mark last season. His teams have captured the New England Elite 8 prep title four times during his tenure, including each of the past three years. Salisbury is the first school to three-peat.

Earlier this year, Will was named the ALL-USA Boys Hockey Coach of the Year by USA Today High School Sports.

Prizes for the contest range from $1,000 to the first-place winner's athletic department, $500 to the second-place winner's athletic department and $250 to the third-place winner's athletic department.

Will skated for Union from 1993-97 and later served as an assistant coach from 1999-2003.
