Stevens played the third period of Florida's contest against the Nashville Predators. He turned aside eight of 10 shots, but the Panthers dropped a 5-2 decision at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn.

The Niskayuna native relieved former St. Lawrence and Albany Devils goalie Mike McKenna at the start of the third period. McKenna allowed three goals in the first two frames.

Stevens signed a free-agent deal with the Panthers shortly after completing his Dutchmen career in March. He's expected to start the season with the Portland Pirates, the Panthers' American Hockey League affiliate.
