Gostisbehere's goal, a power-play tally, gave the Flyers a 1-0 lead over the Los Angeles Kings at 3:41 of the first period. Claude Giroux sent a pass to Gostisbehere in the slot, and he one-timed a laser past Kings goalie Jonathan Quick.

"It's a dream come true," Gostisbehere told Flyers radio. "Every kid who has ever played hockey wants to play in the NHL, let alone score a goal."

With the marker, Gostisbehere became the first former Union defenseman to score a goal in the NHL. He's the third former Union player to record an NHL tally, joining forwards Josh Jooris and Jeremy Welsh.

Gostisbehere finished the game with 19:40 of ice time, including a team-high 5:38 on the power play. He was named the game's third star.

The Flyers ended up losing the contest in a shootout, 3-2.

Gostisbehere has made an instant impact since getting recalled from the American Hockey League's Lehigh Valley Phantoms on Saturday. In addition to the goal, he picked up his first career NHL assist in a 3-2 overtime win at Carolina on Saturday.
