Kosack, 18, has enjoyed a breakout campaign in his second year with his hometown Blades. He's tied for second in the league in goals with 21 and is fourth in points with 38. His eight power play goals are tied for tops in the league.
"Josh is an extremely versatile player who can play in every situation," said Blades head coach Mike Tarantino. "His hockey IQ, work ethic, competitiveness, and hands in tight are as good as I have seen in our league. He's the type of player that will win over Union's coaching staff and fans because of his tenacity and ability to get to the net and create goals.
"Josh is similar to [Montreal Canadiens forward] Brendan Gallagher in the way he plays with no regard for his own body and sacrifices for his team. I have no doubt he will be a large part of Union's continued hockey success."
Kosack's play earned him a spot on OJHL Team Oates at the Eastern Canada Cup All-Star Challenge earlier this month (he had two goals in four games). On Sunday, he'll report to Team Canada East's selection camp for the World Junior A Challenge.
In 42 games with the Blades last season, the 5-foot-11, 175-pounder had 18 goals and 18 assists. One of his teammates was current Union freshman defenseman Greg Campbell.
In addition to Campbell, other former Blades who went onto play at Union over the years include Jeremy Welsh, Mark Bennett and Mike Ingoldsby.
