Newhouse picks up USHL honor

Union recruit Ben Newhouse was named the U.S Hockey League's Defenseman of the Week on Monday.

Newhouse keyed two recent wins for the Waterloo Black Hawks. He had an assist and a plus-2 rating in a 3-2 win over Tri-City on Thursday. He was even better in the rematch the next night, picking up two assists to go with a plus-4 rating in a 4-1 victory.

Newhouse is Waterloo's top scoring blueliner with a goal and four assists in 10 games. He leads the team in plus/minus at plus-10.

The 18-year-old is committed to the Dutchmen for the 2016-17 season.
