The New York Rangers and Philadelphia Flyers made training camp reductions Wednesday, and the news was good for two of three former Union standouts.
Defenseman Mat Bodie wasn't among the 20 players re-assigned by the Rangers. Bodie, who didn't play in the Rangers' 5-4 preseason loss to the New Jersey Devils on Monday, is one of 43 players left in camp.
Defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere is one of 39 players left in Flyers camp after the team re-assigned 22 players. Gostisbehere played in the Flyers' 5-4 preseason win over Washington on Monday. He scored a goal for the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, the Flyers' AHL affiliate, in a scrimmage against the Albany Devils on Tuesday.
Forward Matt Hatch wasn't as lucky. The Flyers re-assigned Hatch to Phantoms training camp in Allentown, PA. He most recently appeared in Tuesday's scrimmage against the Devils.
